April 21: A few thoughts to start the day. . .Now that tax day has passed, what’s the one thing you can count on besides, you know, death? People are going to travel in 2022 in a big way – you can book that. Yesterday United Airlines forecasted a Q2 profit and record revenues on strong travel demand. In CF Room we like small airliner Volaris (VLRS), International Game Technology (IGT), and Wyndham Hotels (WH). Wyndham, which caters to the leisure/travel crowd has been hot – its shares have risen 6 days in a row moving from $80 to $90. . . Las Vegas has seen an incredible rebound despite business travel not yet fully returned. Bookings are slightly down from 2019 but room rates are way up. The good news is business travel is showing strong signs of life. The Las Vegas convention center has booked a record number of shows. While leisure folk may balk slightly at higher room rates business folk typically do not. Despite all of this good news most Vegas related plays are trading at depressed levels.
Former head of U.S. Army in Europe LT. GEN. (RET.) Hodges says U.S. arms sent to Ukraine is “still not enough.” In a fascinating interview on Face the Nation he says, “This is about us being the arsenal of democracy. This is about us supporting democracy versus autocracy.” He’s calling for at least a thousand more drones to support Ukrainian fighters. See the Feed for the video and more info on RADA which makes small, mobile radars for drone and missile detection. . . Also on the Feed see “Focus Area – Defense Contractors” which has over 40 comments discussing the burgeoning Defense sector. . . Check out Christopher Hampton’s room for continuing discussion and great intel about copper and gold miner QCCUF. . . Adults in New Jersey will be able to legally purchase recreational marijuana beginning today. . . “What’s the use of happiness? It can’t buy you money.” – HENNY YOUNGMAN. . .Good luck to all.
